Government announces a free HbA1C starting November 1 2021 to help people living with Type Diabetes manage and control their condition

In March, the Commonwealth Government announced an additional $2.1 million in funding to make it simpler for people living with diabetes to manage their condition. From November 1 2021 , HbA1c tests will be able to be carried out at your local GP surgery, by an appropriately trained GP or specialist and the results will be available immediately. This will make it easier, and in some cases cheaper, for people to manage their diabetes.

Now, people living with diabetes will be able to make one trip to their GP and get immediate results rather than getting referrals and making various appointments.

Diabetes WA looks forward to seeing the positive impact the following changes will have on the Western Australian diabetes community, especially people in our regional, rural and remote communities and those with impaired mobility.

I am thrilled as a person living with type 2 diabetes, I will have a free access to check my HbA1C levels immediately.

And I will continue to enjoy life taking my natural supplements from our wellness company with a free mind.
